Christmas

I'll be honest; I don't love Christmas, but one thing I do look forward to is Christmas dinner. I enjoy being in the kitchen, yes, even with my mother-in-law. I adore sitting around with good friends and family over a meal that everyone really appreciates. Nothing is sweeter to me than the laughter, and the toasts, and of course the goofy crowns that everyone must wear. Whatever the simplest, or most extravagant tradition that you look forward to may be I hope it brought you warmth and cheer this season.

Birthday?

I am so so ready for this baby to come. I am packed and all our bags are in our new and SAFE van. I have food made and in the freezer, I have all the baby laundry done, and I have our upstairs living room converted into a baby space (minus the big blue yoga ball). Now I just need the baby!

Quote of the Day

"Oh ya, where?"
"Well, on your back!"

Organization

I am a very organized person, and when things are disorganized it makes me nuts, however like almost everyone else there are areas of my life that fall into disarray. My kitchen is that place in my life, as my little sister will attest to! With the impending birth of number two I decided it was time to clean up my act once and for all!

Birthday Madness

I think a large part of the reason I have decided to have children is for the birthday parties. My little man just turned 4 and as with every year after the craziness of an over the top birthday party I begin to ask myself "where does the time go?" how is it possible that this person has been alive for four whole years, yet I can hardly remember my life with out him. Birthdays always remind me to slow down and cherish the moments the days, the months and years, because they go by all to fast. For me the milestones are a reminder to be happy and enjoy life, relax and don't stress over the little things. I love birthday time!

For the New Baby

My Grandfather, who has now passed on, made this cradle for me back in 1980! He was an amazing woodworker, and I believe it was his life's passion. It is nice to have something special for this new little person.

Lemonade

Our fascination this week has been with the juicer, so by request we made lemonade, and apple carrot (with a few grapes just for fun) juice.

Maritime Marionettes

This amazing duo builds all their own puppets and props. Ian and I have been lucky enough to see two performances, Rumpelstiltskin and The Bremen Town Musicians. They travel all over the world, but call our little town of Truro their home.

Is there anything better for a child's soul (or anyone's soul for that matter) than the great outdoors? For those of you whom are lucky enough to live close to one of Canada's beautiful National Parks, go visit it!

Grandma

For most of my life I have lived miles and miles away from my Grandmother. Now that I am an adult with a child of my own I find myself so blessed to live a few streets away from this amazing woman. Not only has she raised ten of her own children but has a hand in the upbringing of most of her 23 grandchildren. It seems to me that there is very little this woman can not do, she is not nicknamed "Amazing Grace" for no reason. She is a constant inspiration in the kitchen, in the garden, at the sewing table, with a set of knitting needles, and when it comes to the growth of our children. This diaper stacker was our latest endeavour, made without a pattern or directions!
